About Jeff Goodman

 

Jeff Goodman is a versatile writer, editor and photographer with a wide array of experience in communications. He is currently the communications manager at Geffen Academy, a UCLA-affiliated school for students in grades 6-12.

 

Jeff previously served as communications manager at Crossroads School, a K-12 independent school in Santa Monica.

In his role as s
enior content producer and social media manager at the Santa Monica Daily Press, he wrote more than 800 articles on local news, politics, education, business, sports and more.

 

In an earlier post as a sports editor with the Oregon-based Pamplin Media Group, he was responsible for all stories, photography, page design, website management and social media for the Canby Herald and Wilsonville Spokesman sports sections. He had worked previously as sports editor at the Molalla Pioneer, another Pamplin publication south of Portland, where he doubled as a breaking news and business reporter. He spearheaded special sections for all three newspapers.

 

Jeff’s stint in Oregon followed his year as a news and sports reporter at the Bakersfield Californian, a daily newspaper that covers Kern County and the Central Valley. He produced deadline stories on a variety of topics, including crime, politics, education, business and sports, as well as numerous features and profiles.

 

Jeff has also written for the Los Angeles Times, the official LA Marathon and Twilight Concert Series guides, the Malibu Times, the Oregonian, the Los Angeles Clippers website, the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra newsletter and the Palisadian-Post, a community newspaper serving Pacific Palisades, California.

 

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Jeff graduated from UC Berkeley in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in political science. Much of timhis in college was spent at the award-winning Daily Californian, the university’s independent student newspaper, where he served as sports editor, copy editor and staff writer.

 

In his free time, Jeff enjoys playing and watching basketball, doing crossword puzzles, volunteering with youth literacy organizations and searching for the world’s best hamburgers. He is sometimes confused with "that other" Jeff Goodman, a national basketball reporter.
